Dreamscape 8080 is a piece generated in real time. It is not pre-recorded. It is a computer program, running in the cloud and improvising music straight to the internet.
Instruments used in the piece are:
- bird and other wildlife sounds
- toy instruments
- guitar with very loose strings
- double bass
- air conditioner, water pump, humming light fixtures
I developed the software and recorded all the sounds except the vibraphone, most of them outdoors in the Miami area. The vibraphone is courtesy of the wonderful University of Iowa Musical Instrument Samples Database under the the supervision of Lawrence Fritts.
